Honda To
Supply Formula One Engines To Jordan Grand Prix
TOKYO (Nikkei)--Honda
Motor Co. announced Thursday that it will supply
F1 engines to the U.K.'s Jordan Grand Prix Ltd.
racing team, a participant in the world's premier
Formula One auto race, starting in the 2001
season.
Jordan Grand Prix has been
receiving engines from Mugen -- a venture headed
by Hirotoshi Honda, son of Honda Motor founder
Soichiro Honda -- with technical support from the
automaker's engineers. But the contract is set to
run out within the year, and Jordan Grand Prix
said it would prefer to have the engines supplied
directly by Honda Motor.
Under the new agreement, Honda
Motor will supply Jordan Grand Prix with 3-liter,
10-cylinder engines.
